Local play requires no server account and has no cloud saves, advertising networks, tracking or game-sent analytics. Bots run locally; chat is not sent to an AI service. Bot speech adaptation stores limited style counters, not complete conversations.

Wi-Fi play and chat

Wi-Fi is optional. Your display name, a randomly generated player identifier, messages and match information are sent to room participants. The host device processes the complete match state and sends each player their own hand and public game information. Your photo is not transmitted; other players see a built-in avatar. Connections require local network addresses. The developer does not operate a game server receiving this information. Chat history remains in device memory, up to the latest 80 messages, and is cleared when you leave the Wi-Fi screen or start another room. After a disconnection, the history and names/identifiers of players seen in the room remain temporarily in memory so you can report them; they are not written to a chat log. Players may take screenshots or submit reports themselves. Use a trusted Wi-Fi network: the current game connection has no application-level encryption in transit.

Safety and reports

Acceptance of the community rules, your random player identifier and blocked identifiers are stored locally. Blocking hides that identifier’s messages on your device and prevents it from joining a new room you host. It does not reliably identify a person and is not a service-wide ban. Reporting shows the selected public message, names, player identifiers and match identifier before opening an email draft. A report is sent only if you send it yourself in your email application. Keys, private hand cards, IP addresses, room codes, photos and the full chat history are not added to reports.

Your profile picture

Selecting a picture is optional. The game crops a local 512 × 512 copy into its own storage and does not modify the original. The picture is not encrypted in the same way as saved games. Remove it in the profile editor to delete the game’s copy. The picker accesses your selected file; it does not upload your photo library.

Support and legal basis

If you contact support or send a report, Mikko Laiho processes your email address, message and voluntarily supplied information to resolve support requests and investigate abuse. This relies on the legitimate interest in maintaining and protecting the game and, where applicable, legal obligations. Do not send encryption keys or unnecessary personal information. Email passes through your chosen email services and the recipient’s Gmail service; these providers may process data outside the EEA under their own terms. Information is not sold or used for targeted advertising.

Retention and deletion

Local game data remains until you remove it or the application’s data. On Android, clear the app’s storage; on iOS, use Delete App, not Offload App. Progress and local coins will be lost. Operating-system backups follow their own settings. Closed support requests and reports are normally deleted within 12 months unless an ongoing case, legal claim or legal obligation requires longer retention. The developer cannot delete data from other players’ devices or recover a lost local save.

Your rights

Contact the address above to request access, correction or deletion of personal data in support correspondence and, where applicable, restriction, objection or portability. You may complain to the Finnish Data Protection Ombudsman: tietosuoja.fi/en. Your statutory rights are not limited by the game’s terms.

Changes

If features such as advertisements, new cloud saves or real-money purchases are introduced, this notice and the store disclosures will be updated before release.

ONLINE MULTIPLAYER

Online uses a server identity whose login secret is stored encrypted on your device. The Polar55 backend processes your display name, identifier, optional profile thumbnail, presence, rooms, invitations, verified coins, XP and Online Gems ledger. Edgegap game servers process match cards and moves. Connections use HTTPS/WSS. Network connections disclose your IP address to the servers. The backend uses a hash of it for short-term request limiting and abuse prevention. Hosting logs may contain network addresses and technical error information. The game does not collect GPS location. Match state is stored privately for recovery. Players see their own hand and public information; spectators cannot see hands. A light online bot receives only information permitted for its seat, and does not send it to an external AI service.

Visibility and chat

The Gems leaderboard shows every online participant’s display name and current Gems balance, including while offline. Your profile photo is visible to players and permitted spectators at your table. A photo report automatically hides it from everyone. Lobby chat is separate for FREE, BRONZE, SILVER and GOLD; the server keeps at most 500 lobby messages for at most 24 hours. Table chat and spectator chat permissions are table-specific. An online report sends selected information directly to moderation; cleanup removes resolved server reports created more than 90 days ago. Open reports are not deleted under the same condition. Players may take screenshots.

Account management

Only server-verified coins can be exchanged: 10 coins = 1 Online Gem. Existing local coins remain in single-player. No reverse exchange or cash redemption. Delete your identity through Gems and account after ending any active match. Deleting the app alone does not delete the server account and may remove your access to it. Support and personal-data requests: opelaiho@gmail.com. Server data is used to deliver the game, recover matches, investigate abuse and maintain accurate balances, not sold or used for targeted advertising.

© 2026 Mikko Laiho · opelaiho@gmail.com

Effect of deleting an online account

Deletion removes the profile photo, login sessions, presence, invitations, blocks and the account’s lobby messages. The account display name is anonymised, login is disabled and online balances are cleared. Balance ledgers, XP entries and room result records may remain under a pseudonymous account identifier to maintain accurate balances and investigate abuse. Moderation reports may also retain original display names and messages as evidence. These records are not automatically erased when an account is closed; the 90-day cleanup condition for resolved server reports is described above. Contact the privacy address to request access to or deletion of these records. Hosting logs and backups are handled separately.

Request account or data deletion without the app

Email opelaiho@gmail.com with the subject “Canasta Bonanza — account deletion”. Include your in-game display name and, if available, your account identifier. Do not send passwords, login secrets or payment information. We will confirm which account is yours before acting and may ask for limited additional information to avoid deleting someone else’s account. You do not need to reinstall the game to send a request. Ask separately about retained records and hosting backups if you want a full personal-data deletion review.

Request account or data deletion Updated 4 October 2026Publisher and privacy contact: Mikko Laiho, opelaiho@gmail.com.
